Conference venue

Wellington Convention Centre, 111 Wakefield Street, Wellington

The Wellington Convention Centre comprises two unique buildings located right next to each other in Wellington’s central business district. The Michael Fowler Centre, where the plenary and concurrent sessions will be held, is a building of architectural modern design (1983). Wellington Town Hall is a beautifully restored historical building (1904) and will be the venue for some of the concurrent sessions.

On arrival at the conference

On arrival at the Wellington Convention Centre, please register at the conference registration desk, located in the Fletcher Challenge Foyer of Wellington Convention Centre’s Michael Fowler Centre. The registration desk will be open at the following times:

  • Sunday 12 September   2.00pm – 5.00pm
  • Monday 13 September   7.00am – 5.00pm
  • Tuesday 14 September   7.30am – 2.30pm

The Registration Desk is unable to store items for delegates. However, on the final day of the conference, space will be available for delegates to store luggage until the conference closes. The conference organisers take no responsibility for items stored.

Nametags

Please wear your nametag for admission to all sessions, the exhibition area, morning, afternoon teas and lunches and all social functions. Security will deny entry to anyone not wearing a nametag.

Messages

A message board will be located near the registration desk. Messages will be posted on this board but no guarantees can be made that messages will be delivered personally. Please visit the registration desk to add a message to the message board.

Personal mail

Conference organisers cannot accept responsibility for participant’s personal mail. Please have mail sent to your accommodation address.

Climate

The Wellington region enjoys a pleasant, spring climate at this time of year with the daytime temperature ranging between 10-15 degrees celsius.

Dress

Smart casual attire is appropriate for meeting sessions and the Welcome Drinks. Formal dress is appropriate for the Conference Dinner.

Transport

There are many options for transport provided around Wellington. On arrival to the airport; buses, taxis and shuttles are all at your disposal to facilitate the 10-20 minute trip into the city. Buses and taxis are also largely available for transport within Wellington City, but travelling by foot is recommended, as in Wellington, everything is always close by. If you are staying at one of the conference hotels, the Convention Centre is no more than 10 minutes walk away.

Childcare facilities

Please note that the conference has made no arrangements for the provision of childcare. We recommend that you contact your chosen accommodation who may be able to assist you with babysitting services during your stay.
