The biennial CORE Conference On Railway Engineering is the premier Australasian rail industry gathering, attracting top rail engineering experts and leaders from around the world. CORE 2010 is being held in Wellington, New Zealand, September 12-15th 2010.
The rail sector realises the importance of young people – fresh ideas (and faces) for the future of rail. The Youth Scholarship award was successfully introduced at CORE 2008. The scholarships are intended to introduce young professionals to the opportunities within the Rail industry and provide exposure to the latest research, technology and ideas.
Scholarships will be awarded to 50 tertiary students or recent graduates with an interest in the rail industry from the following disciplines:
"Faiveley Transport firmly believes in the need to enhance the recruitment of young graduates and students in to our industry. The rail industry offers exciting challenges and great opportunities for career development, but is often overlooked as a less than glamorous industrial sector in which to work. We hope that this youth scholarship initiative will give young people exposure to the rail sector, excite them and give them the motivation to join our industry. Only through recruiting these young people can we ensure the health of our industry and develop the industry’s engineers, operators and leaders of the future"
